Maya Edmonds
Maya joined the Southerner last year, during her sophomore year of high school. It was actually an accident, but Maya thought the class was pretty chill, so she returned for a second year. Both inside and outside of school, Maya is quite the social butterfly. She loves to hang out with her friends, but she also likes to cook. She mostly makes more basic recipes, but every once in a while she likes to delve into a fancier one. When it comes to what her favorite food is, however, she keeps it simple with some dang good spaghetti and meatballs. If Maya’s friends aren’t available and she’s not cooking, she likes to hang out at home and watch TV. This includes cartoons, but the specifics of what she watches is one of the greatest mysteries ever known to South High School. Maya’s strengths and talents include (but are not limited to) ceramics and some pretty great social skills.

![The South Cheer squad has had a few new changes this year. Not only do they have a new coach Gabby Stickney but they have also had an increase in cheerleaders on their team due to better publicity and funding. “[The cheerleading squad is more popular this year] because we were able to promote [the team] more. I mean having cheerleading in the winter helped to have people see that we wanted to continue cheerleading and now people have been seeing them at soccer and football games so we have more people inquiring about the winter tryouts.
