Every year, a mangled car wreck sits outside of South’s entrance the week before prom. It’s a grim reminder of the consequences of drinking and driving before the weekend festivities begin. Today, there was something different about the somber scene – a small black cat peeking it’s head out of the window.

“I’m not superstitious,” Senior Alexzandrea Jackson laughed about the eerie coincidence. She was outside during third period knocking on doors in an attempt to find the cat’s owner.

This was not the cat’s first appearance. “I saw it inside today. Must have snuck in some how!” Physical Education teacher Brenda Frisvold said. Frisvold asked Jackson to search the neighborhood and find this lost pet’s home.

“The cat was inside this morning and has been hanging out around door three. I also heard it was inside yesterday,” Jackson said while holding the cat near the painted rocks. She explained that she was unsuccessful at finding it’s home to the group of students slowly gathering around her.

Michael Roberts, a new security guard, filled us in on the history of this super sneaky feline, “It definitely lives in the neighborhood. It was here yesterday and today. Unfortunately we called animal control and they want us to bring the cat to them. Their hours are 3:00-7:00 PM so we have to let it go.”

The group of students said their final goodbyes before setting the cat down. So lookout for a small black sneaky cat, or don’t if you’re superstitious.
