The Southerner

Khayaal Desai-Hunt
This is freshman Khayaal Desai-Hunt’s first year on the Southerner staff. Desai-Hunt is excited to work on improving her writing skills as she learns the processes of journalistic writing. She has enjoyed working on writing in the past, for both school and personal projects, but is looking forward to everything new that comes with being a part of the newspaper. Desai-Hunt is also looking forward to interacting with South students and staff in areas of the school that aren’t on her daily path around the school.

On a sunny weekend day you might find Desai-Hunt outside taking a nice walk around the lakes, hiking, or something else to take advantage of the good weather. If the weather is bad, she may be warm and comfortable with a good book and a warm mug of hot cocoa to keep the cold away. Reading is one of Desai-Hunts favorite activities with Fantasy and Sci-fi ranking as her top genres. Although she has read many great books, Desai-Hunt holds The Harry Potter series as her top favorite. Baking and playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends are two more of Desai-Hunt’s favorite ways to spend her time. She says that classic chocolate chip cookies are one of her favorites to make. She falls on the Chocolate side of the fruity vs chocolate candy debate.
