Raza Diop, Staff Writer
Raza is a junior at South going into her 2nd year at the Southerner. She joined the Southerner her sophomore year with the goals of workshopping her writing abilities. Going into her second year, she looks forward to finding a groove with this new group of writers, and covering pressing issues at South. Raza is a dancer, boxer, and hula hoop extraordinaire. Her favorite artist ever is Kanye West (circa 2011, as she’s increasingly less eager to support him amidst recent events). She’s also an avid Star Wars fan, her favorite movie being Revenge of the Sith.
Raza can be found around Minneapolis organizing for political causes, particularly surrounding Black issues. She recommends newspaper as an outlet in this regard, as it gives writers an opportunity to interact with diverse parts of the student body and verbalize their perspectives. In her free time, she enjoys socializing, working out and listening to music.
