The Southerner

Fanta Diallo , Staff Writer

Fanta is a senior this year and you may know her as a dancer or an actress from one of South's plays, but there is much more to her. She was born in Guinea and was raised there until the age of six with French as a first language. Being raised in Africa has given her a different perspective in life, as she is more aware of social justice issues and has a passion to do something about them.

“School is really important and a lot of people take it for granted and don't really care about it,” she said, explaining how when she was in Guinea her Mom worked so hard just to get her in class for even a week. “I usually write Hunger Games and Arrow fanfiction but this seems like something really fun to do,” she explained. Although Fanta does not wish to pursue a career in writing she looks forward to trying new things and wishes to open more people's eyes to some of our social justice issues.
